Cricut Joy is not cutting properly

Bought my DW a Cricut Joy last month for her birthday. She uses it to make cake toppers and cards worked lovely to begin with but have noticed that it isn't cutting and is also ripping the material she uses now. We've gone through all the main avenues of trouble shooting and forums but no such luck..
Has anyone else experienced this and how did you resolve it?.

I'm not a cricut expert by any chance - but have you changed the blade for a fresh one? Also probably worth taking it out and jabbing it into a ball of scrunched tin foil a few times to clean it as well in the short term.

Was just going to suggest tin foil. My blade got a tiny piece of vinyl stuck to it...

Also, as the mats get less sticky through use the cuts are less accurate, so make sure everything is really thoroughly stuck down. My card mat is nowhere near as sticky as it was originally and if I’m doing intricate cards I add washi tape.

Also realised I am responsible for some of the desticking as I scraped it over vigorously to get the cut out bits off...

You can get a lot of the sticky back if you give it a spa day and soak it in soapy water for a few then gently rub the stuck on bits loose. Although having said that, my main one is an absolute embarassment - I watch all these obviously sponsored crafters with completely clean mats and mine is just like there with half a dog attached to it and me resorting to masking tape to make sure stuff stays still! (I have other decent mats if I'm doing anything proper but I keep the pre-wrecked mat as my 9 year old is busy making a sticker design and production business empire on the machine)

Oh thanks CoffeeWithCheese I’ll give that a try. I had read about that, but I was dubious. One Joy spa day coming up Grin
