Is this a bonkers idea?

I've got far too many scraps of yarn leftovers, many of which have lost their bands so I don't even know what they are any more.

I also have to face up to the fact that, if I haven't done so yet, I'm unlikely to complete the eleventy million UFOs that are stacking up behind the sofa.

Would it be a bonkers idea to hold 5 or so random yarns together and just knit a straightforward blanket on my 25mm needles? Would it work up quickly enough for me not to get bored and to gobble up the scraps hoard? And make a usable blanket, too?

How are you going to do it? In strips, or all in one go? I would be tempted to have a go using strips, or something, then if it doesn't look right, you haven't invested as much effort.

Might have to be in strips. The knitting needles are about 35cm long, so I probably wouldn't be able to knit anything wider than 40-45cm.

I wonder whether now's the time to learn that 10 stitch blanket pattern!

Give it a go. If you don't try, you won't know! :)
