New lockdown crocheter here. I quite like small projects and prefer things without too much counting haha

Anyway so far I've just bought random cheap yarn mainly dk and Aran from stylecraft or paintbox. I did buy some recycled t shirt which made a fab basket. I seem to prefer slightly chunkier yarn as my tension with a thinner yarn and a smaller hook is not good.

So what comes first, yarn or project? Do you have a favourite brand? I'm struggling only looking at photos and can not wait until I can visit a shop for the first time and touch.

I just want to buy all the yarn. I was warned but I didn't listen...

I nearly. always use stylecraft DK what ever the project.it’s my favourite yarn and has a huge range of colours. You can get a shade chart to help with planning projects too. I sometimes use a multicoloured yarn and my favourite for that is king cole yarns.

For my smallish amigurumis I like Rico Ricorumi dk. Tons of colours to choose from and the cotton is soft yet firm so my work doesn’t lose its shape when stuffing.

I like Stylecraft,

I prefer Scheepjes over anything but it took a while to get used to their fingering weight whirls .

@CodMouth I'm a bit scared of amiigurumi. I've managed to do a nearly round ball but that is as far as I've got.

I use stylecraft special aran for nearly everything. Although I found scheepjes colour crafter softer then stylecraft special dk. Maybe I had a dodgy ball but it was scratchy.

Drops Paris or the drops love you ranges for amigurumi.

King Cole is also nice.
