Jewellery making people

I have recently taken up jewellery making and have been making lots of necklaces, but one thing I don't seem to have got the hang of is closing jump rings properly. I do it like I'm supposed to with two sets of pliers but they never seem to close quite tight, so the clasp then tends to come adrift when the necklace is being worn which is rather annoying.
What does anyone else do?

you have to be really careful when you open them that you are just twisting the ends front to back rather than pulling them, if the noses of your pliers bump it can be enough to make a gap.

Good advice been given already,if you want to make sure they don't come apart at all,the only way is to solder every jump ring when its closed.

Not such a good idea if your making necklaces with lots of jump rings on tho

Have been thinking about getting a soldering iron Moonmother, but I don't know how to use it! Can you point me towards any helpful books/websites? I would really like to do a course but don't know of any around where I live.
