Hello all, I hope you don’t mind me popping in. I have been grappling with this problem for a while now and thought someone here might be able to advise.

I have a lovely set of balls of wool in a spectrum of shades from white through greys and greens to dark brown - a kind of earthy natural palette. It would make a gorgeous sweater if I started with light and knitted through to dark. BUT! Here’s my stumbling block: how would I match the sleeves to the body, to make sure the colour variation looks the same?

Is there some reliable way of knowing how much of each ball of wool I will need to set aside to use for each of the two sleeves?

Am not sure I’m explaining it very clearly and this might be why my efforts to Google a pattern aren’t coming up with anything which specifically addresses this problem. I’ve done quite a bit of knitting before including children’s sweaters but I haven’t dealt with varying colour on sleeves like this before. Thanks so much to anyone who can help!

If you look around on Ravelry you might find a suitable pattern. You can filter for pattern attributes like colourwork
