English paper piecing and simple patchwork quilts

I fancy using up the small fabric scraps I have. I have looked into EPP and going to give that a go with some hexagons - maybe make a toiletry bag. During my searches I went down a rabbit hole and now I also fancy trying my hand at learning how to make a simple patchwork quilt. Can anyone recommend any books or online courses? I have a sewing machine and can do very basic sewing. Am I taking on too much?

Or stitch and flip.

I'm not keen on the usual ordered quilts, mainly because I'm not that precise. So I make new fabric from my little bits.
