Draw wax 'explosions' on black paper.
Then get children to paint over the paper and reveal the fireworks.

DS2 is Y2 but they made firework headbands this morning. Strip of black paper taped to fit round head and then lots of lametta type tinsel, springy out folded paper and other shiny glittery things.

If you are brave enough to use glitter, (and, quite frankly I wouldn't recommend it!) dribbling glue onto black paper in trails and then covering it with assorted glitter colours is effective.

Oh, glitter glue is also great for littler ones as it's less like having a loose cannon in the classroom!

Draw 'explosions' with chalk and then smudge it slightly. Go over the trail with glue and shake on some glitter. Stick on little star stickers or those little cut out star shapes that you need to stick on with glue.

It can look quite effective. I think I got it from Cbeebies last year, iirc.

Brill.
Thanks for all your ideas!
