How to put hair into a locket?

Might be a bit gross but I want to put two locks of hair into a locket. However, when I tie a lock together with thread it just ends up falling apart. I am the least crafty person ever. Any advice on how to make it work? Would be very grateful :-)

What about jewellery wire?

Also, you might need to put product on the hair to keep it together nicely.

Thank you, I'll try hairspray. Wouldn't know where to start with jewellery wire! I'm awful at anything arty

My first thought was resin, if the locket is deep enough you could embed the hair. Bit of a faff if you've never done such things though maybe?! Happy to answer any questions if you're interested.

Resin? Is this something I'd just buy off amazon? The locket is really small, it's a nightmare! But I'd be happy to permanently fill it if that makes sense. I don't know if I'd trust myself to do it is all - I have no idea what to do with resin but I will have a google. Thank you!

Hey! Depending on how much you want to spend you could buy a starter kit where you get to practice using the resin to make something like pendants or keyrings (there's a company called resin8 who sell kits and seem to get lots of good reviews.) A much cheaper and less faffy idea may be to use a clear drying glue such as Mod Podge which you can get in a Matt, gloss or sparkly finish. You could glue the hair itself, or tie the hair in a piece of thread or ribbon and glue that? I hope you find a solution that works for you!

I usually make a mini ponytail with a small lock if hair, tied with double cotton sewing thread, either colour matched or contrasting. Once you have the first knot to keep it in place I wind the thread round and round and knot again. If the hair is very fine/curly it can help to wet it first.
