Needle felted pictures

I’ve just finished my first needle-felted picture kit. I’m pleased with it, but don’t really want to frame it as a picture.

Do you think it would be sturdy enough to be sewn as a cushion cover?
I’m not keen on using as a placemat as I’d have to murder anyone who spilt tomato / turmeric/ red wine on it.
But what else can I actually do with it???

I think it would be fine as a decorative cushion cover. Or you could sew it on to a piece of backing fabric, although how much 'traffic' it would withstand would depend on the finish of your piece. As in is it all tightly felted or is fine of it still fluffy?

It’s all tightly felted. And sewing onto a backing piece is a great idea, thanks!

I appreciate it’ll not last forever, I might put it on bed to reduce wear.

Depending on the size and shape, could you turn it into a banner?

It’s not really big enough for a banner. More the size for a central panel in a cushion. Thanks for suggestion though.

When you say you don't want to frame it as a picture, is that because you have enough stuff on your walls, or because you don't like the look of it framed? Because if it's the frame, I've seen lovely needle-felted pictures that use the embroidery hoop as the finished frame. A cushion cover would look great but not sure if it would stand up to washing.
