Pre-covid I used to run a craft group for a charity supporting vulnerable women. I'm trying to put together some packs for the women to do at home during this second lock-down but struggling for ideas.

It needs to be things that don't require an specialist equipment (funds are low), has simple, easy to follow instructions, and is suitable for a range of abilities.

Can anyone suggest anything?

What sort of crafts did you do with them?

Can you refer them to websites? Macrame? Only needs string to start.

Felt tree decorations - pre cut or simple templates, could be sewn or glued? Card making?

We made nice decorations from white air drying clay one year. Literally take a lump, roll it out into a fairly slim sausage, then pinch the two ends together so you have a loop, then pinch again in the middle so you have the outline of a heart. Flatten slightly if you want. We added family members names (one each). Leave to dry, and that's it.

We made loads to keep and give away and still only used half a pack, so would think it should be fairly cost effective to share out?

What about quilling? To make cards or decorations?

BookSkark · 07/11/2020 20:14

Origami to put on cards?

Cotton drawstring sacks for Christmas. Big ones for gifts or 24 little numbered ones for advent.

These are hilarious. I imagine you can get a dog hat pattern online to knit or crochet. I haven't made one but my neighbour's dog sometimes wears one.

It would be quite cheap to put together a little scarf knitting kit and you only need to know how to knit and purl to make a decent scarf

Yarn can be brought very cheap in 10kg job lots on ebay, same with bulk numbers of straight bamboo needles. Plenty of patterns and easy picture tutorials free online that you could print

One or two balls of wool, a pair of needles, a pattern and how to leaflet in each pack - could introduce the women to a productive and enjoyable new hobby

Thanks for all of your suggestions, its quite difficult to come up with things that suit a range of abilities and can be done with minimal guidance. In the end I included some origami, cards to decorate with quilling, some beads and threads for bracelets and lavender bag making stuff. It was mostly based on supplies we already has as well.
