Hi All, I'm looking for some things to do in half term with my DD 14. She loves crafts, sewing, painting, calligraphy etc. I'd like to do some art/craft things during the half-term break. Perhaps learn some new skills, knitting, feltwork, anything really that we can do together at home.
thanks

Try registering with Pinterest - there's lots of free patterns and tutorials on the site.

Adult colouring books
English paper piecing
Crochet
Diamond painting (this one needs a kit - try Hobbycraft)
Make some face masks

As CalicoCotton says, you should be able to find ideas for those on Pinterest - just thought I'd make a list of things you might not have tried!

I used to waste hours on craftgawker.com/

Pinned loads on tutorials for stuff on my Pinterest boards but made very few of them! 😂

Crochet - Bella Coco has some good tutorials - you could make a joint granny square blanket in autumn colours.

I taught myself to crochet using YouTube tutorials. I just kept looking until I found a teacher who explained at the right pace for me. They all have different strengths and weaknesses.

How lovely that you are going to do something together!

I'm doing some online halloween fashion workshops with my teenager over half term. The lady who runs these is amazing and so much fun.

Also seconding diamond painting. You can buy kits really cheaply on AliExpress for diamond painting bookmarks and notebooks covers which I think are more useful that just the artworks. Theres no skill involved whatso ever but they are addictive.

Also highly recommend getting teenagers to restyle charity shop clothes into new fashion statements. Its a great creative way to mess about with dressmaking and experiment and less daunting than starting from scratch.
