Homemade handprint plate advice?

I'm not the most artistic person, but really wanted to make both sets of grandparents a nice token from my toddler daughter. I had thought of getting a ceramic plate and and getting paints and just placing her handprint on it with a line saying I love you granny and grandad from **

Just wondered what type of paint would be beat? Would any old plate do? Thinking a nice heart shape would be nice? Also think it would be nice if it could be on a stand so they could display it but how would I do that? Thanks in advance to anyone more creative than me!

I would honestly just pay to go somewhere and do it.

I went last week and I think the plate was between £12-£15 so pretty similar to what I imagine you would spend buying everything separately + they can write 'professionally' on it

@ScarMatty what kind of place does it? Haven't seen it anywhere before

Acrylic paint should be okay but if you haven't done prints before then definitely practice on paper first - there is a technique which you need to hone! Don't have too much paint on their hand - paint it on with a brush rather than dip it in, and roll the hand from palm to fingers, rather than placing it down flat. It's nowhere near as easy as it seems - learnt from bitter experience. Feet are easier in my experience

@Findahouse21 wow thanks for the tips - I can imagine it isn't straightforward especially not with a wriggly toddler who won't sit still for a minute! I love the idea but does sound a bit tricky

Have you not got a local pottery place?

Just google 'pottery/ceramic painting'. There are normally loads around
