knitted face masks

I'd like to knit a face mask but I'm struggling to find a suitable pattern. I'm only a beginner and I'd like to be able to read the pattern before I start.
I prefer flicking through books rather than online for knitting projects but I appreciate that's not suitable for this.
I don't mind paying for the pattern but I'm not having much joy.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

There probably won’t be patterns for a knitted mask as knitting is not really suitable for mask making. A knitted mask would have holes in and not do the intended job!

I don’t mean to be rude, just curious, but why would you want a knitted mask?

Just the idea makes me feel way too hot! Or are you somewhere with arctic weather? Also, you’d have to do it on super-tiny needles or the holes would be so big as to make it pointless. Unless you are going to line it/have a filter insert?

They do exist but tend to be American not British.

A knitted mask would have holes in
It would also be horrible to breathe through.

I thought I'd line it with something. It's for winter and no worse than putting a scarf over my nose and mouth.

I think there’s a whole host of things like this in America. They are ‘malicious compliance’ masks.

Lined with cotton or jersey would work. Would be hot but for short time periods would be ok I think. You may need to experiment pattern wise and just see what works!

You couldn’t hand knit as finely as a bought scarf, I’ve actually seen someone wearing a knitted scarf, as much use as a chocolate teapot -huge gaps!
WHO recommend 3 layer masks so if your outer (useless) layer is just for decoration you would need to have 3 layers of lining inside it and it would be hot and stuffy.
