I'm going to make a cardigan but I've never done a swatch before... It says 17stitches, 14 rows per 10 cm. Does this mean that I have to count 17stitches across 10cm? I did watch Bella Coco explanation and she said you can do 5cm swatch and just double it.

Hi OP. I'm not much of a knitter but I do crochet. That's right; it means that in a 10cm by 10cm square, you should have 14 rows of 17 stitches. In this case, I wouldn't half it to do a 5cm square as you have an odd number of stitches so would end up with 8.5 stitches when you half the number of rows and stitches accordingly.

I hope that makes sense!
