Memory Teddy - How to Make

Hi,
Looking for some advice please.
I would like to have a go at making a memory teddy out of dcs old babygrows/clothes. Don't know where to start with this. Best patterns - how to use the fabrics (they may not be stiff enough) etc. Any tips? I need about 4 teddies, so paying someone to do them will cost over £100 (but this may come later, if things don't work out).

I’ve made several memory animals. Patterns from www.funkyfriendsfactory.com are brilliant and easy to follow. Try it out first using some fabric that isn’t precious before you cut up any clothes. And if you use stretchy fabric, put some interfacing on the back before you cut out the pieces. Hope that helps.

I use the funky friends signature bear for memory ones. And ditto with the interfacing.

I'd go with a company called 'love keep create'. Look at their website they are amazing. I think they actually sell a kit too so you can make your own if that's what you're after.

This is the funky friends memory bear made from school uniform. Be careful with placement of any logos, it ended up looking like it had boobs! Grin (The recipient loved it though)

Thank you so much everyone. Love the teddy you made schrodingers.

Interfacing that fuses? Just googled. Does this work? I can hand sew neatly and I do own a sewing machine though I haven't used it much.

Yep, fusible interfacing ironed onto the back of the fabric. I tend to use a light-medium weight. I sew by machine because I find it quicker for me but you can sew by hand if you prefer. Good luck!

I have been asked to make some memory Teddies out of 67% Polyester 28% viscose 5% elastane fabric. Please someone advise me as to what interfacing I should be using

Very late for me to be replying but I used to make memory bears and for stretch fabrics I used to stabilise with cotton infusible interfacing. You can buy it by the metre from Ebay. When I first started I used the standard interfacing but found it can tear if you want to really stuff the bear!

My friend makes memory bears and sells hundreds every year. She uses a simplicity pattern and stiff interfacing.
