Can I dye this fabric?

I have some pale grey cushions that came with my sofas that I'd like to dye. They are the same colour as the sofas but I'd like more of a contrast. I'm thinking navy blue.

I've used Dylan machine dye heaps of times with good results, but always on quite basic fabrics (chino trousers, jeans, cotton tops etc.). This is a sort of chenille type bad fabric with a silvery shiny thread making up the pattern.

Would the 'chenille' dye and leave the pattern silver? Or would the whole lot dye? Or none of it?! I'm happy with either of the first two outcomes, but don't really want to ruin them completely Confused

What are they made of? I doubt the silver shiny bit is something that will take the machine dye - isn't that for natural fibres only?

There is also the risk that the stitching won't dye and you'll be left with silver stitching on a navy cushion.
