Realised all my cheap Ikea multi-pack scissors don't quite cut it at all

And is 10" the standard size?

Thanks

I don’t know because I’ve had mine since school but when I wanted a stitch ripper recently I went to John
Lewis website to see what brands they sold as generally they only sell reliable brands

Until I upgraded recently I have used a pair of Fiskars for 15+ years , and they have been good .
Yes 10" /25 cm is the best IMHO

SwedishEdith · 28/06/2020 23:20

Thanks. JL seem to sell Fiskars or JL and not much else - suppose that tells me something.

I have some Gingher serrated shears and they're brilliant! Going to buy a regular pair too. Have heard that Kai is also good.

I have Fiskars. Not sure of the size without measuring, but they are excellent.

I have a pair of the IKEA fabric scissors. They were only about £5 but I think they're brilliant. here Just make sure to hide them from the children so they don't use them for cutting paper or hair!

Thanks all.

Those Ikea ones look pretty good actually but I'd already gone for the Fiskars and they're satisfyingly sharp.

I have multiple Pairs of fiskars - they are really good but, like with all fabric scissors, dont let anyone cut anything other than fabric wth them

SpringFan · 09/07/2020 21:51

I have Fiskars dressmaking scissors and embroidery ones but I have some JL pinking shears and they are fine

Knittedfairies · 09/07/2020 21:57

I have various pairs of Fiskar scissors, and they're mine. Nobody else dare touch them...

BlueMoon44 · 10/07/2020 18:42

I am a Fiskars fan, they are a joy to use.

@WisestIsShe and @Moreisnnogedag made me laugh - definitely don't let anyone cut anything other than fabric! Back in the early 80s I had a pair of Wilkinson Sword dressmaking scissors. They were my pride and joy - so imagine my feelings of absolute outrage when I found my father sitting on the floor in front of the lounge fire, socks off, cutting his toenails with my beautiful scissors Angry. I had a good rant; his defence was that I left them where he could reach them! It taught me a lesson, I never left them lying around again.

I have my black scissors from Merchant Mills they are a lovely weight and cut beautifully but they weren't cheap
