Which dressmaking pins?

I've bought three different Hemline packs and one German made (can't remember, but not Prym) and they're all really disappointing, not very sharp or in some cases no point at all! I've recovered some of them a bit by shoving them through a Brillo pad a few times but it's a bit of a pain! I've not done any dressmaking for 40 years so I'm out of touch, any suggestions would be gratefully received, thank youSmile

Get wedding dress pins

I've got some nice pins and some shit pins but I think that was just luck of the draw.

I also have some clips which are great for certain things.

Thanks Sashh and SoupDragon. I bought bridal pins because I thought they would be better and they were awful too. I guess I've been unlucky. Clips might be the answer, I've not used them before so will give it a go. Thank you! Smile

Oh I'd kill for fab pins!

I have some great bead ones and I bought some lovely glass ended pins and they are so tiny

I do like a nice saftey pin but I can't find any good ones AT ALL!

I got some glass headed pins which have been good- I think they were Korbond?- as you can iron over them when you're pressing hems before sewing. Merchant and Mills do these ones here. Their stuff is generally good.

I bought generic flower headed and pink glass headed long pins... Amazon... they have all been great.

I bought short flat headed pins, to pad out a polystyrene manekin thing, and some of those have been very disappointing.

Very hit and miss.

Thanks all Smile I get so flipping frustrated over the rubbish quality these days in simple things like this. When I made clothes 40 years ago I never had to give it a thought. Pins came with points and sharp ones at that and if they didn't then Trading Standards would have put a stop to it.
Anyway, rant over, calm down. I've ordered some Korbond pins. Merchant and Mills are out of stock but I've asked to be notified when they're back in. I'll post back with a review in case anyone else has the same bee in their bonnet as me Grin x
