Crochet hook size question

OrrAppleCheeks · 27/05/2020 13:25

I'm just about to start the Coastal Crochet stash buster blanket. I think it says to use a 4.5mm hook but I've only got a 4.00mm hook. Does anyone know how much this might affect the overall size? Thanks.

If you are experienced it will be easy, as you just need to make your tension a bit looser. It is only one size and as it is a blanket it will come up slightly smaller and tighter. I don’t alway use the hook specified as I am a tight tension person.Crochet hooks are very cheap on AMAZON.

I have just had a look at that pattern and as it is DK wool you will be fine with the 4

Thank you! I’m fairly experienced - have made quite a few blankets but always squares or hexagons, which tend to be more gappy than this pattern so I thought would be maybe more forgiving. Will try to be a bit looser with my stitches.

I’m trying to reduce the huge amount of stuff that I buy on amazon :)
