want to knit dd a hat using

10mm needles (got chunky wool) not very good at adapting patterns yet - anyone got anything? Thanks

try this one: basic hat. There are lots if you Google basic hat pattern. The thing to remember is your tension (stitches per inch) your DD's head circumference0.8, ie make the hat about 20 per cent less than your DD's head circumference. If your DD's head is 20in and your tension is 3 stitches per inch, then you cast on 48 stitches (for knitting in the round) or 50 if you are going to knit it flat. Then just follow the shapings in the pattern (ie depth, rate of decrease) and it should work.

MamaG -I did the same! (only I've never been able to knit really).

I think I was just curious as to what the hat was going to be knitted with ie. anything but wool
