Broken Sewing Machine

Hi everyone (well, the ones that click on this thread anyway)

I have a sewing machine which has broken (title gave it away!) The sewing machine fixing shop-man (not an actual title) has said it isn't worth fixing the machine as it will cost the same amount to buy a new one.

My dilemma is the machine is very new (sadly) hardly been used and I wanted to know if there was a place that bought sewing machines for parts. I don't mind even giving it away, just really don't want to dump it.

Thanks all for reading and replying.

Maybe offer it to a secondary school! Their technicians might be able to fix at and I’m sure they would appreciate it.

Oh wow. I did not think of that! Brilliant idea. I shall get emailing.

Got a local 'Buy Sell Swap' group on Facebook? or a local Men's shed?

And what has actually busted on it? I fixed a 'broken' sewing machine recently by dismantling the whatever the under the foot bobbin mechanism is called - see I really know what I'm doing here - cleaning out the compacted lint and reassembling it. The machine, which was an inactive lump before, ran perfectly.
