Sewing with ultra super chunky

I’m a beginner knitter but have so far been knitting snoods with sirdar ultra super chunky yarn. I haven’t been able to sew the ends of the snood together neatly though. I’ve attached my last attempt, though the horrible seam is on the ‘wrong side’. Any tips would be gratefully recieved.

I think it's always going to be ugly in a super chunky yarn - can you sew it up with something thinner. Or learn to knit them in the round so there is no seam

@PurpleAloeVera Have you tried mattress stitch? You use the little loops at the end of each row and zig zag between them. It makes for a flatter seam.

I'm also a beginner, so take my advice with a pinch of salt.😂

Have you tried knitting in the round with circular needles? I haven't tried it yet but they are going to be my next purchase.

Thank you everyone for your help. I’d love to try with circular needles but I used 20mm (straight) needles and I haven’t found circular ones that large yet.
