Anyone made their own face masks?

Not a thread about the rights and wrongs.
I feel it's likely we will all end up being advised to wear them under some circumstances and DIY versions likely to be the way.
I've watched a few YouTube videos and there are many different versions.

I wanted to but cba in the end so ordered some on etsy. She made kid size ones too so got us 1 each.
They have a pocket in the middle so I cut a hepa filter to size and put them in.
Don't think they'll be much help but I anticipate us being told to wear them like Scotland just have and even if they don't help they can't do any harm.

Yes, I've spent today making face masks for the family. Double layer high thread count cotton with a double layer of silk sandwiched between (sacrificial scarf 😭). Apparently silk or chiffon are excellent filters due to their electro-static charge. I've sewn in some thick floristry wire across the nose so it can be moulded to fit, and elasticated the bottom so it fits under the jaw. Not the most elegant looking pieces, but hopefully they'll do the job.

I've made a couple. A shaped one with a wire over the nose is the best fitting so far.
I don't have a sewing machine though so it's very laborious.

I agree probably not much use but it could become anti social not to wear them.

I have made two from the free CraftPassions pattern. One with hair elastics over the ears (quite uncomfortable), the other I threaded a long shoelace through and is much better.

Looked at those craftpassions patterns but they seem very complicated for a novice sewer. I have found a box full of old shoelaces though!

No, but a friend has used old padded bras for face masks.

I made one with the loops, but it was a bit painful on the ears. So, then adapted the next one to have elastic around the head. They have the filter pockets and fairly easy to make. If we get told we all have to wear them, I'm planning on making more for family and friends. I watched a couple of YouTube videos to learn how to make them.

Not sure if the link will work, but this is the one I found easiest to follow.
