Shawl lace knitting marathon

Making a lace shawl; up to 300 stitches in a row.

Share your experiences to keep me going and sound out ‘I’m a bit dim’ voice, such are the amount of times I’ve had to rip out rows. I am becoming much better at following a pattern now though!

I bought the pattern and three balls of wool in July thinking it would a quick knit. Nine months and three extra balls of wool later, I have learnt the hard way how crucial making a sample first is, the safety row and stitch markers.

Love to hear your marathon experience and what are your top tips as a consequence? Daffodil

What's the pattern? I do love lace knitting but I know what you mean, it's daunting. I find a written pattern easier to follow than charts. Something with sections, or a pattern which repeats in a way it's easier to spot mistakes. Also lighter coloured yarn but that might be my ageing eyes!

I have a beautiful slider's web shawl that my DM made for DD. It's very special as mum died a few years ago. I'll try to remember to upload a oic tomorrow.
