Sewing machine oil alternatives

I've looked out my old sewing machine that hasn't been used in decades. I've given it a good clean and want to oil it but I don't have sewing machine oil. I've read that I shouldn't use WD40, I can't find the can of 3 in 1 oil that I thought I had but I did find a can of AC90 oil.

What is the worst that can happen if I spray a little AC90?

According to this, you shouldn't use 3 in 1 oil on a sewing machine either, so maybe it's a good thing you can't find it!
eBay?

Thanks for your reply, just as well right enough.

I can order the right stuff, I just wanted to get started tomorrow but I suppose another week won't matter, I was just looking for something to do during lockdown.

Have you checked if it actually needs oil? Cleaning up dirt and threads etc may be enough - it actually causes more problems over oiling than under (until late stages!)

@Binglebong I don't know that much about them tbh. I just thought with it being in an outhouse type of storage for decades it would probably need some after a good clean.

However, I ran off a few face masks today and it ran like a bloody dream, wish I hadn't ordered the oil now but I'm sure it will come in handy at some point.

You'll use it at some point, just be sparing with it. Brilliant that it's working so well!
