what's everyone working on?

We're all spending more time at home which means more time for crafting.

I'm currently almost finished a wee baby blanket to use up some acrylic I had in my stash. Then I have a "cake" of the Aldi colour changing yarn to use up too - probably a triangular scarf thing for DD as it's very pink.

Then once that's done I'm going to tackle the attached - I have some lovely red lace weight yarn which I think is a silk/merino blend, and beads. It might require a bit more paying attention than the easy baby blanket or scarf.

That's beautiful. I love lace weight yarn.

I've just finished a small blanket for Woolly Hugs and today's job probably needs to be sewing in the loose ends on my latest Chernobyl blanket. Then I have a list...

I've got three giant balls of quite garish chunky that I think I'm going to turn into twiddle muffs.

More yarn for another Chernobyl blanket. 10 balls in pinks, oranges and yellows that will probably be an Attic24 stripe of some description.

More yarn for a small Woolly Hugs blanket. Probably using the Call the Midwife pattern.

I've got sock yarn and I want to teach myself to knit socks using Magic Loop.

I've got some lovely merino yarn for a cowl.

Lots of odds and sods that will hopefully turn into a couple of nativities/Christmas craft items.

3 balls of baby yarn for cardigans for my niece who is having a baby in September.

A fabric panel to turn into an advent calendar for my DD1.

MDF letters to paint for a photograph display.

I think I'll probably start on the twiddle muffs as that will free up lots of space in my stash.

Goodness, that looks unbelievably difficult! But will be well worth it if you have the patience!

Nothing nearly so demanding here.
With a major, multicoloured stash to use up, I’m looking ahead to (I hope) happier, back-to-normal, times, and making several of these (very easy) for Gdcs and to give away. At about 25 cm they’re too small for Santa presents but will IMO look nice hung up as decorations - though obv. not for anyone who only does ‘tasteful’ decorations!

Learning to knit socks is on my list too. I have yarn, and needles, but just have never had the time.

I also have about 6 balls of navy DK cotton/linen yarn which would be good for something light for the summer. Poncho maybe?

I've just finished this latch hook kit to make into a cushion for dd2. She'd been given it for Christmas a couple of years ago but she's never been into craft so would never actually do it.

I thought i could do with a new shawl, so have started the aptly named virus pattern shawl... just a test piece ar the moment. Need to hunt down a nice wool to make the real thing though.

Suggestions welcome!!

I'm designing a graphgan for my daughter, I have a 12 point star blanket that I'm currently making up to lay across a king size bed and I'm also making an amigurumi elephant. Almost finished my mums scarf but need another ball of wool so that's been put on hold for now

LittleCandle · 07/04/2020 10:35

A huge Disney castle cross stitch for DD2 (She's 25 next week!). Someone was kind enough to copy the chart for me, as it has been out of production for years. I am getting in, on average, 8 hours of stitching a day, so it is coming on in leaps and bounds. I have about 4 life times-worth of stash, so no shortage on what to stitch next.

Felting images and figures.

Pipandmum · 08/04/2020 00:59

My daughter and I are trying needle felting. We do wet felting but it creates such a mess we thought wed try needle and had signed up for a couple workshops over the Easter break. I had bought some equipment so we are giving it a go on our own. We've done bunnies and owls.

SoupDragon · 08/04/2020 11:57

so have started the aptly named virus pattern shawl

I started mine on the first day of lockdown and I'm just doing the final row .

MsAwesomeDragon · 08/04/2020 22:33

I've just finished a small cross stitch that I started a couple of years ago on holiday but didn't finish it once we were home. It's a little pink butterfly 🦋.

So now I've got out the blanket I started for dd1 before she went to uni. It was supposed to be finished for when she started, and she's been there 2 years now. Maybe it'll be finished by the end of lockdown (or maybe not as I'll be working as well)

Fenlandmountainrescue · 10/04/2020 17:32

I’m making clothes for my daughter’s dolls. I found some patterns in a very old book. I don’t have the right materials, but its going well thus far. Punk barbie is going to end up looking very fetching!

mrshoho · 11/04/2020 19:15

I've finally got time to try some decoupaging (I think this is what it's called!). I finished my first one - a peacock! I've got a 'hand'to do next in blacks, greys and whites for 15 year old daughter's dressing table to hang her jewellery on. Very therapeutic I must say.

So I'm meant to be doing a blanket for an agreed relative's birthday in June. But I'm about halfway through and it's too hot to have on my knee. My 2020 temperature blanket is on hold for the same reason (although I suspect this weekend will have jazzed it up a bit).

So instead, at DS's request, I've started the dragon from this book today. Haven't got any eyes so may need to embroider them on, but so far so good!

*aged relative. She hasn't agreed to it - that would ruin the surprise!

Dilbertian · 12/04/2020 00:24

I'm working my way through the heaps of unfinished projects piled behind our sofa, plus many repairs. Some of the repairs have been draped over the back of the chair for so long that the dc have outgrown them Blush

That's in the daytime, when my vision and concentration are good. In the evenings I'm crocheting hearts for an ICU nurse who is asking people to send pairs of hand-made hearts, to try to give comfort to relatives of people who die alone in hospital.

madcatladyforever · 12/04/2020 00:28

trying to learn crochet from a book. It's doing my head in. I can knit well, why can't I learn to crochet arghhh.

SoupDragon · 12/04/2020 07:52

why can't I learn to crochet

I think a lot of it is muscle memory. I can't knit. Well, I can, I taught myself out of sheer stubbornness, but it all feels horribly wrong.

Redstorm2807 · 12/04/2020 16:35

The dragons look adorable. I've just finished my first entrelac project which I'm delighted with and will now go back to making a 'the dude' cardigan for my husband. And also a pink ballet wrap cardigan for my daughter. I should have it finished by the time she goes back to ballet after lock down ends.

I’ve restarted a crochet along that got out of sync with the pack when my husband told me about his affair. It’s a Scheepjes one called Rozeta It’s going to be a massive blanket. Done by Christmas I think!

dyscalculicgal96 · 15/04/2020 19:18

We paint pine cones. I want to try water colouring next time. Any other suggestions needed.

Leah2005 · 28/04/2020 16:50

I'm sewing. Spent two days making a tea dress which no where near fits me. Tried three versions of it. Made a shift dress today in a previously successful pattern but forgot I'd used 2 way stretch last time so this one looks like a sausage skin on me once I've wriggled into it. Tomorrow trying trousers and Thurs will be reverting to wine tasting......

GreenOliveTree · 08/05/2020 11:30

I've just found this board so joining in to show my current project for my lovely friend who is expecting in September Smile

I've just finished basting it and will attempt to quilt it soon. I last made a quilt 10 years ago, and had a friend of a friend bind it for me as my machine broke. Got a brand new one though so having fun playing on it again Smile
