Repairing a cuddly toy??

Hi, I'm trying to repair some worn spots on Mr. Bun, my youngest son's beloved cuddly. The worn spot is round Mr. Bun's right eye - any advice on how to mend him? I did suggest an eye patch 😂 I have tried to add a photo but appareny I've exceeded the limit -?? Not uploaded any pics today..

What sort of fabric is Mr Bun made from? Would darning work?

thanks Golden - he's made of plush : he's a jellycat rabbit. I just darned the spot under his eye which was rubbed through, so it's ok - but I'll need to think about that eye patch!

Or fabric sunglasses if he fancies more of a summer look
