Loose magic rings are ruining my blanket 😢

(Posted in Woolly hugs by mistake, hopefully someone here can help)

I am doing a blanket that is a variation in granny squares, starts with a magic ring and then 12dc as the centre of each flower. It's been a slow grower and I've added to it over 18 months but I've noticed some of the older squares are opening up because the magic ring has become loose. What am i doing wrong? I've got to go into some of them and rethread the center to pull it tight again 😢

That happens to me when I don’t crochet the tail in properly on rnd1.

You need to leave a long enough tail to crochet in and then weave in after you’ve finished rnd1.

Does that make sense?

Yes, thank you. I've been weaving in the end but obviously not enough

When you do rnd1 make sure you’re catching the tail and crocheting over that as well as the magic ring. It makes it stronger.
