Does anyone know what this knitting stitch is called? I don't recognise it but I want to have a go...

is it tunisian crochet rather than knitting....that diagonal/ V sort of thing doesn't really look knitted iyswim

Brioche stitch but quite loose on big needles?

Have a look at images for brioche stitch or fisherman's rib - not the two-colour brioche patterns but the basic stitch and one-colour variations.

Agree, looks like brioche stitch

HearMeSnore · 24/02/2020 11:43

I wondered if if could be a type of brioche but it doesn't look "ribby" enough, somehow. But maybe it is just because it's done quite loose. Will have to experiment...

fishermans rib makes a lovely stretchy garment mainly knitting below the stitch you are on

Yay! I've got it - went on Ravelry to get some tips and it turns out it is a half-brioche, with the brioche stitches slipped twice instead of once to give them that elongated look.

Took some doing to get the hang of it but it's quite fun to do.
