Pattern for knitted hand puppets

Does anyone know any good patterns. I'd like to make a few different ones to play with my toddler. I've found a few designed for kids but not ones I like for adults. I want something where the mouth of the puppet opens (it that makes sense!?) xx

like the old type sock puppets you mean. Sorry no help with knitted unless you used an old sock

Yes ... sock ones ... that's what I mean

There's this & this on the berroco site.

Actually I've just discovered this site today & it's fab - take a look at the girls' polkadot coat.

Glad I saw this - off to add that site to my free patterns thread!

The polkadot coat is very similar to the pinwheel cardigan I want to make for myself - circular design. I think it will look fab on, very unusual!

Love the hand puppets too

There is a free patterns thread ?

Miaou · 31/08/2007 11:42

I see rantinghousewife has already added the berroco site!

Miaou - where's your free patternd thread? I want to add magknits. Check out the gorgeous ladies' dress & girls' swing coat.

Look in the archive for loads of fab patterns.

Thank you!

Ah took me so long to link that you've beaten me to it

mumtoboys · 31/08/2007 13:09

Thanks ladies . Do you think berroco patterns would be easy to adapt to a frog or snake. DS1 already has a dog puppet so was hoping to do some other ones. I've only just started knitting so I'm not very clever at adapting patterns.

Knit the Tiger puppet in greens and ignore all the colour changing directions. When you have finished embroider two nostrils rather than one nose and maybe stitch in a froggy tongue.

For snake, just don't bother with the ears. Embroider two slit-like nostrils and stitch on a long snakey tongue. You could still do the stripes, but in more snakey-colours.
