Knitting patterns for toddler girl hats

Hi,

I'm not having a lot of luck in tracking down a pattern for winter hats for toddler girls. I want to knit some presents for nieces and friends' DDs. Has anyone seen one while they are whiling away some time with a knitting book - lol?! Or are you working a on great pattern?

I know that I should be brave and do my own pattern, but I fancy the easy life. Something to do while watching Heroes!!

Any info gratefully received.

I've got a lovely pattern for a toddler girl hat with a picot trim and little knitted flowers - unfortunately it is from a supplement in Knit Today a couple of months ago! I want to keep hold of the supplement as I'm planning to knit some of the patterns myself, but I could send you a photocopy if you like?

Aah, thank you for your offer to send a copy Miaou. The knitted flowers might be a bit beyond me - I struggled with some embroidery on a garment last year .

I keep that in mind, and I have a clutch of knitting books reserved through the library, and just arrived, to look at as well.

Knit Today offer back issues - but don't say how to get them on their website. Doh! May e-mail them for further info...

Aren't you doing some lovely complicated cardigan for yourself? I'm dying to choose some yarn and a pattern for myself but don't get any time to look around the yarn shop without a delinquent toddler....

You could just use the pattern to make a basic beanie hat

The flowers are really simple. I'll type out the instructions so you can see just how simple they are!

"With 3.75mm needles cast on 21 sts and st st 3 rows.

Next row: K1, yrn, k2tog; rep from to end.

Beg with a k row, st st 3 rows. cast off purlwise.

Oversew cast on and cast off edges together to form a picot edge. Roll the strip up lengthways to form a flower shape making sure all the points of the picot edge are on the right side of the flower, pin into shape, then sew as pinned."

Anyhow, the offer of a photocopy still stands if you don't find anything you like in the library books

ooooh dizzy, just had a look at your link - I LURVE the penguin hat! Might have to make that for ds for the winter! Ace site - have bookmarked it

almost finished the penguin hat now, and am going to make a tomato one for my friend's dd (think it's a bit girly for ds2)

Many thanks for all the messages. Please forgive the late thank you message, lots been going on here with me and DS and not got around to posting.

Found a lovely Sirdar pattern for girls cardi and beret. Have already done one beret in a pretty clover colour and started on another one.

Best of all got an hour to myself to go to the yarn shop and chose some DB Soho to do a fisherman's rib long scarf. Feeling v. pleased with myself - nearly finished!

Many thanks to all for the ideas. I love checking out the ideas on other threads as well. Quite tempted by the tea cosy on the St John's Ambulance site.....!
