How to finish bunting

I have knitted some bunting, I’ve almost completed them and now I have to work out how to string them all together. I don’t want to simply thread some yarn though them all, I was thinking maybe using crochet but I’m not used to crochet, so it would have to be very basic.

Sorry if my post doesn’t make any sense, I’m a little bit tipsy 😂😂😂

If you don't crochet you could either thread ribbon through or plait a cord using three strands of yarn. You might need to use more yarn to get the thickness you need but you just need to have three strands - so 6 lengths of yarn will be three strands will be 2 lengths of yarn in each strand, 9 lengths will be 3 in each strands etc.

If you have made flags with holes at the top you can just thread it through but if they are solid you will get a better finish by sewing them on to your cord/ribbon.

Or buy a very long strip of bias binding, fold it over the top of each flag and and sew it like this....

Sorry - just realised you've knitted not sew your flags so my solution is probably no use at all. I'm a muppet. Please ignore...

Thanks for the replies, after some trial and error, I’ve decided I’m doing it like this, what do you think?

Love it! What are the letters going to spell?

LouiseEH · 09/11/2019 08:44

It’s going to spell “Merry Christmas” ☺️ I started this over 4 years ago and I’m finally getting round to finishing it 😂

@LouiseEH we call those projects UFOs (unfinished objects) in my craft group Grin (I have a knitted blanket I made for DS's toddler bed - he's now almost 6 and in a full-sized bed - so progress has been slower than anticipated....)

That looks cute Smile Maybe thread some lengths of the cream yarn invisibly through the back of the tape to prevent the garter stitch to prevent stretching when hung up.

To prevent the garter stitch from stretching* Blush
