Usually lots of matches glued down in the pattern you want with the tips (unglued) facing upwards . Then some sort of maybe wet kitchen paper overtop? Please don’t take my word and set fire to kitchen towel in your house.... that’s could be super flammable

The disclaimer also says not to try this at home.
