knitting advent calendars?

Yes I know it's only August and I'm really sorry for mentioning the C word. I am not a fan of Christmas. I find it dark, depressing and tat-filled. I'd quite happily hibernate from when the clocks go back until the New Year.

But I think it would all be a bit more bearable if I had something knitting related to look forward to each day in december. I am struggling to find one on google - I don't want to KNIT an advent calendar ffs, just buy one with nice knitting related goodies each day.

Any suggestions?

I made an Advent cowl, courtesy of Wee Counties Knits, so you knitted a number of rows each day.

Another friend, chose 12 skeins of sock yarn which her husband put into 12 identical bags and she chooses a bag a month to knit up a pair of socks.

That sounds lovely @OtraCosaMariposa but I don't think such an item exists yet. You could make one if you don't mind knowing what's coming.

24 small drawstring bags or small gift bags or one of the wooden calendars with numbered drawers. Buy small things like cable needles, stitch markers, bodkins, tape measure and row counters to put in some of the bags/drawers. Nice yarn in other bags/drawers. Printouts of patterns in a couple of bags/drawers. Try to arrange it so that your yarn and patterns match up so that you can start (and hopefully finish) a project before getting the wherewithal for the next one. You could be organised enough so that you knit yourself items like a hat, socks and gloves to keep you warm in the new year or squares that you sew together to make a lap blanket.

I have done lots of googling and found several. BUT. Many are sold out already. Most give "mini skeins" of 10g of yarn each day, all designed to coordinate together and make a shawl or something. So you'd get 240g of yarn and a few wee bits and pieces like stitch markers too.

Average price is around £65.

I think I'd rather not bother and just spend the money on yarn I choose in the quantities I need.

There's this one, although it's crochet, not knitting. I'm tempted myself, although I really don't need more yarn!
