Decorating Tin buckets anyone ?

Hi,

I fancy having a go at decorating the small buckets you see in some garden an gift shops. They all seem to be the enamel type in plain cream etc.

I'd like to do something different and paint designs on them.

Where would I get the 'raw' buckets' from and what paint would I use to decorate. Anyone got a clue ?

Many thanks

ikea do the silver coloured ones, asda too and i think tesco.

i think acrylic paints will work well, i have decorated diff types of tins and buckets but not much with paint, I have seen some painted and am sure it was acrylics used... not sure if adding pva would help paint "stick"

you can use papers and cardstock to decorate them too.

Hi Champs, thx for the response and suggestions of stockists.

Can I just ask what do you mean by cardstock ? Am I being thick here ?

I saw some plain silver buckets in hobbycraft today, I think they were about £4 each.

yep, that's what I thought! What about ebay?

Gingermonkey · 03/08/2007 11:40

aactually I just looked on ebay and they don't have them either, not for sensible money anyway. I had another idea though - a florist's wholesalers (we have one in wakefield and you just need to be a meber to get in)

hmmm good idea re: florist wholesaler... how do you become a member?

From what I can remember about the one local to us you need to use someone's business details, eg letterhead or chequebook, bill etc (but everyone knows someone with their own business - whether it's floristry or plumbing!!!!). I am pretty sure it is very easy.
