Baby hat inspiration needed please!

Ok, I have never knitted one of these before and need some inspiration... I have some cotton DK and normal needles. Do I need circular ones or dpns? Has anyone used the Itty-Bitty Hats book?

I just knitted a very simple garter stitch hat from Debbie Bliss Quick Knits for babies. Did it in 2 evenings. DK wool and normal 4mm needles.

Ceolas I like the sound of getting it done in 2 evenings

Pruners I am curious about making simple hats to sell... hmmm...

No it wouldn't be big money would it - you spend so much time on it and then there's the yarn... But maybe if you focused on one simple line that was successful it might be worth it

In padstow a shop was selling a gift pack of those little leather shoes and a little hat in matching stripes with roll brim at the bottom and i-cord toggle at the top - really simple but very cute.

I have finished it! I did it on normal 4mm needles, I will post a pic when I get one

my two favourite hats are

berry hats, eg strawberry or blackberry. I semi-felt them, they look a bit odd if all floppy, I think-unless they are done in bright cotton , when they can look nice

or

ribbed hats with tassles in a nice yarn. I do like a nice pompom hat on a baby, i must say.

the one skein one is nice also.

at £7.95! What shop is it? [nosy] Interesting the yarn is a mix... I am using cotton atm but may have to get myself down to Texere again to see if I can grab any bargains...
