Crochet blankets! Can you inspire me?

I have a ton of DK. I want to take up crochet again as a distraction. Raveley is too distracting in itself - which crochet blanket can you recommend?

Attic 24 Sweet pea, lovely and easy, works up quickly and makes a super snuggly blanket.

Corner to corner blankets are nice and simple, and you don't have to count much.

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 07/04/2019 20:02

I was going to say attic 24.
Any of them really!! Are you on Facebook? There is an attic 24 group and you can look in t he albums of the blanket you would like (hydrangea, sweet pea, moorland, cosy stripe) and see the different colourways.

Are you thinking of a blanket with stripes across or lots of types of granny squares or a complex pattern?

teddyneedsawash · 08/04/2019 07:07

Thanks. I think my stylecraft is left from an attempt to make an Attic24 granny stripe which disappeared in a house move 6 years ago. Maybe I should just start again! Although I have just seen a giant rainbow-alternated-with-white granny square on twitter that I like too

I use Pinterest for inspiration (pattern and colour ways, finishes, etc.) and you tube for tutorials

TheLetterOfTheLaw · 08/04/2019 13:12

#Spinyourgrannysquare- pattern’s on Ravelry, lots of inspiration on Instagram loads of grannies but you join them as you go so works up super fast

teddyneedsawash · 09/04/2019 16:33

Ooh, I really like that. I was planning on a free pattern but might just have to break my rule!

I made this one for DD. It's c2c and a free pattern from the designer's blog. www.repeatcrafterme.com/2016/01/crochet-emoji-c2c-graphgan.html You probably don't have the right colours though if you were doing an Attic24 blanket.

The blankets that I have lined up as possibles in the near future are this, this or www.ravelry.com/projects/undone57/fly-away. That last one is knitted but I would do a c2c version and different colours, so in fact a totally different blanket, I like the prism effect of the colour placement though which is what I would aim for.

There is also a new crochet along coming soon, the pattern for it will be free for the duration of the crochet along. I think it looks really pretty and it would suit Attic24 colours, although you might need to buy some extra yarn for the background. www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/floral-dreams

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 09/04/2019 16:54

This one is a free pattern and both easy and stunning. www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/postcards-from-sweden

I don't know why the third link in my first post didn't work, so trying again here

Make and do crew has a lovely c2c pattern for a bunny blanket. It's very good for Easter. I made two.

Tidypidy · 09/04/2019 16:59

I'm currently making a sampler blanket for a friends new baby. I like it because the different stitches keep it interesting to make!

I've made two Lottie and Albert rainbow blankets lately. Work up super fast as they're 6 strands of dk together. Great way to use up stash. There are loads on Instagram. They're super cosy and squishy. And I love the pom poms Smile

Attic24 neat ripple is my go to blanket.

Spice of life is a good stripy sampler CAL:

(Some of the stripy sampler CALs have squiffy tension which bugs me!)

tizwozliz · 12/04/2019 19:06

I love granny stripes just because it's so easy to pick up and put down. No thinking required at all. This is the last one i did, in Attic24 Moorland colours (more or less)

I have blanket envy!

FusionChefGeoff · 12/04/2019 21:13

This was an Artic 24 Hydrangea I think. Very very easy

I’m making the easiest blanket in the world (lemon peel stitch) the colours make me feel sick - like faintly radioactive vomit - but it’s a lovely texture!

Pesky your blanket above is stunning , nothing like I’ve seen before, do you have a pattern ?

HexagonalBattenburg · 28/04/2019 16:55

C2C join as you go works for a nice fast growing patchwork effect.

I've got one of those on the go using up random balls of yarn that jumped in my trolley over the years - and one that's a twisted diamond granny square one which the tension's a pain in the arse on.

Fairyfellowsmasterstroke · 11/05/2019 18:39

I absolutely love the Lottie and Albert Rainbow blanket that Soloula has shown us.

I'm interested in giving it a go but I' confused about the 6 strand of DK yarn.
Can anyone advise me is this a yarn that can be purchased in a ready made ball or do you create it yourself??

If it's available in ready made balls what is the yarn called?

Also, to continue with the spirit of the thread, I'm showing a blanket I made for my DD when she got engaged. It consists of 6" and 12" squares, each using a letter or theme which means something to my daughter and her partner.
