More or less if I crochet?

And roughly how much for a jumper for an 8yo? I am clueless!

Do you have a rough chest measurement? I have a book that gives yardage for jumpers including children's, but I'm not sure of the chest measurements for their ages. I've got it open here ready though

19" and 26"

It looks as though the smallest size in the book (finished size chest 66 cm) would be about right for a 3 year old, and that gives an estimate of 500- 600m. That would be about 5 balls of Debbie Bliss wool dk, for example, though that sounds like quite a generous amount. Will be back with the 8 year old in a minute...

Oops, cross posted- OK, so the stuff I just said was for 26" so 4 balls should do it I would have thought. The 8 year old, if you had a finished chest size of 30" would need about 6 to 8 balls according to this.

Thank you so much. Would that be 50g balls or 100g?

That would be 50g balls, sorry, although it depends on what type of yarn partly- if it's lighter (acrylic vs cotton, for example) then it will go further

Thank you
All I need to do now is find me some patterns...

Oooh, I might be able to help you there- just remembered something I have in my (far too extensive) pattern library. I will try to CAT you.
