Has anybody used Light-up crochet hooks? Are they just a gimmick, or do they have an advantage over regular hooks?

Blimey - who knew? Have you had a look online for reviews?

I’ve used for dark wool, not essential but helps if it’s small work and you need to see where you are. Not really bright enough if want to crochet in dark!Wink

The reviews seem to be so uniformly good, that I hardly believe them!

Great for working on an overnight flight.

I’ve got that exact set.

Pros - very comfortable to use ( I hold my crochet hook like a pencil)

it has 2 different light levels

USB rechargeable, much better than using button batteries

Very secure locking system for the actual hook.

They’re great for an intricate pattern with dark yarn.

Cons - feels awkward if you hold your crochet hook like a knife, or have very small hands (both apply to MIL and she hates it)

The hooks are slightly bigger than they should be, so you need to check your gauge before you use them.

The light bounces off the join in your bifocals so you can get s bit of a light show if you move your head too much.

Overall I really like them and think they’re great value for money.

I've got a very similar set!

Bloody brilliant for dark yarns and crocheting as the evenings draw in.

They are slightly bigger than normal hooks but thats about it.
