Knitting chart help

This is an embroidery chart. I think the stitches would transalate into fair isle ok, but not sure of the proportions.

Any advice?

Knitting stitches are taller and thinner than a square. Imagine it stretched. It would work but the squares would be rectangles, but that might not bother you.

I would prefer longer and thinner as a shape, not sure if the aesthetics would look right?

The hearts would be stretched out, too. It might be better to draw up a grid using stitch dimensions, perhaps knit a sample square to get accurate dimensions, then draw the pattern you want on to the grid to get squares and hearts.
