Pic in my profile

It's for dd1's single bed but I spread it out on our bed to take the photo. I got lots of help from MNers on this (particularly Ceolas, Marina, NQC and Idreamofdaleks) so I thought I would share the final result!

Ceolas - I will be sending your book back to you shortly - it was truly invaluable, I took lots of ideas from there!

Sorry for hijacking your victory thread, Miaou!

Have hand washed all the squares. Quite a bit of colour came out of the red squares. I was planning on sewing together and knitting on a red border.

Sounds wacky, but if I wash the ball of red wool for the border before knitting...

Miaou · 16/07/2007 13:29

I'd keep washing the red squares until the colour stops running, and yes I think washing the ball of wool is an excellent idea! Put it inside one of those net bags for delicates (or tie it up in an old pillowcase) first though, just in case it unravels in the washing machine ... my word, imagine the tangles ... !!!

(Don't worry about hijack - happy to help with suggestions!!)

This thread caught my eye as I saw the words red running in the wash _ have you tried those dye magnet things? They come in a dark pinky red box and are called colour catchers, they are ace. All the white stuff that I used to just allow to get a little blue/pink (I am such a lazy arse but lots of dd's clothes are white or have white bits and I need to wash all of them to make up a load!!!) now they stay white!
Beautiful blanket miaow, well done

I put it in a pillow case and washed it this morning. Just need to wait for it to dry!

Had heard of colour catchers. Might use them for the first couple of washes anyway.
