Quick and easy baby blanket pattern crochet or knitted?

Just that - new baby due in 4 weeks ish, (not mine) newly returned to knitting and crochet so needs to be straightforward and quick - ideas?

I find crochet quicker than knitting but a lot will depend on yarn and pattern choice. A garter stitch blanket in baby aran will knit up quite quickly. If you prefer crochet then corner to corner gives a lovely texture and once you are on the decreasing section it seems to work even more quickly.
