Hi all

I have a basic knowledge of sewing etc (ah-thank yew A in GCSE textiles Grin) and I own a sewing machine which I haven't used in a few years. I'm making a blanket from my DDs clothes from her first year.

I'm all good on how to sew the patches together - I just can't get my head around the backing and binding. I was hoping to use a cuddle fleece backing to avoid using layers and also I think I can find a nice pattern.

The only thing I'm a bit baffled on is whether to use binding for the edges or is there a way to sew the backing on differently so it folds over the edges slightly or something?

Your expertise will be greatly appreciated !

I've done quilts this way as cba to do 'proper' binding. Only thing I'd say is be aware that the fleece will be stretchy so will make your quilting difficult and will also be quite thick when you turn it over for the edging iyswim

Thank you for responding! Yes I thought it would be quite thick.. I guess if I put the back and front together and think that it'll be too difficult to work with I can always attempt binding - would that work?

I laid out all my pieces and I still have so many to cut. I think I'll probably have to swap some out so it doesn't become the size of a house!
