Stretch Velvet for Curtains?

Hello Ladies, I want to make some curtains for my bedroom window which will be about 14' long. I have made simple cotton curtains before but have never undertaken a window of this size. The stretch velvet is 1) less expensive and 2) I think may drape all soft and flowy like I am envisioning.

If anybody has any advice I would be most greatly appreciative! Thank you!

I wouldn't personally. It's not designed for that. It would flow I suppose but it could also stretch out of shape with the weight of the curtain and look all thin in parts. Lots if stretch velvet is really poor quality too. It can also be an absolute bugger to see with, even of you are used to stretch fabric.

Keep hunting, lightweight non stretch velour does exist, try ebay? Do you want a crushed velvet effect?

Thank you for your responses ladies. My concern was that it would stretch out Ranger Lady. I'm not as clueless as I thought. Good suggestion about ebay NoMeNoNo. Will go have a look now.

Thanks again!
