bernat blanket yarn alternative

Is there a yarn available in the UK like Bernat Blanket yarn that isn't so expensive? I saw a lovely blanket tutorial on YouTube using this yarn but it's over £10 a ball I'm looking for a cheaper alternative. Thanks

Is it the chenille texture that you're looking for? James C Brett does some chunky and super chunky chenille yarns and they are fairly cheap.

There's also a website called yarnsub.com which is incredibly useful, you put in a specific yarn and it lists out all similar yarns and details any differences. It doesn't give prices so you do need to then look up any yarn that interests you to see if it's available and what it costs. It's a really good place to start though.

Bernat comes as 300g balls though, so it would actually be cheaper than 3 x as many. 🙂
