Skirting boards for DIY doll house

Hi
I am making a LOL doll holiday cottage out of a basic small wooden doll house for DD
She asked Father Christmas for the 'real' lol house, but we do not had the space, and she already has a huge barbie sized doll house.
So a DIY version on a budget it is Smile
Now I have cut wallpaper and floors to size, but it doesn't look quite right where they meet, so skirting boards of some sort are the solution I guess
But how! Ebay sells doll house sized skirting boards, but I would rather not do woodwork
(This project is already stretching my very limited miniature diy skills)

Does anyone have any advise?

Was thinking maybe thin cardboard strips in a wood colour, but unsure if that would work..

Thanks Smile

I once made a room and used strips of balsa wood. It's easy to cut into strips and can be stained with a wood stain.

How about a thin picture frame cut to size?

Go lift a pile of the wooden stirrers you get in coffee shops and cut the rounded ends off to make planks! They’re free and paint up lovely as you can see the wood grain.

Yes! Get yourself to costa!!

I was going to suggest lolly sticks - Hobbycraft sell them - but the coffee stirrers sound even better.

How about edging strip? This sort of thing: www.amazon.co.uk/Classic-Melamine-19mm-wide-Postage/dp/B0789Q6JFC?tag=mumsnetforum-21

Thanks for the suggestion @SpoonBlender but can't fit an iron in the doll house Smile

Picked up some stirrers this morning, and think that will be perfect!

And to the poster that suggested ice lolly sticks, thanks, I will use some of those as door bars Smile

Can you post a finished picture op? It sounds amazing.

That's a good point! You can just glue the stuff on though :)
