Stitching on machine uneven - what am I doing wrong?

I am trying to sew but every time I sew the stitch is nice and neat but on the other side it looks like a line of thread that is being held by a hook of thread (not sure how else to describe it) If I pull the line of thread it comes undone very easy.

I can't find my manual anywhere, I've tried doing lots of different settings.

I have a Singer heavy duty sewing machine - only bought it earlier this year.

Any ideas?

Are you threading it up correctly?

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 10/11/2018 16:18

Check the tension?

mynaughtylittlesister · 10/11/2018 16:19

I think so, I have followed the markings on the machine.

I have moved the tension dial to every setting and it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Have you tried adjusting the Bobbin tension?

mynaughtylittlesister · 10/11/2018 16:22

How do I adjust the bobbin tension?

Check you've put the bobbin in with the thread wrapped the right way round. Re-thread the main thread and then check the tension. That usually fixes it for me.

Email singer and they will send you a diagram of how the place where the bobbin case goes should look.

I had the same problem and had to unscrew the bobbin case and adjust it.

Also clean the bobbin case with a soft makeup brush. The dust can make the stitching uneven.

I clean mine every couple of uses.

I have just had a quick look on you tube and so will see if that will help.

Thanks everyone

I think I have sorted it! I was using a plastic bobbin and changed it to a metal one. It seems to be sewing okay at the moment so fingers crossed!

i have that machine and have found sometimes the bobbin thread doesn't slid into the groove it's supposed to and i have to take it out and make sure its all gone round the bobbin bit properly. i use plastic bobbins and had no problem with those just me not checking i've done the bobbin bit correctly. drives me mad.
