Help! I bought a knitting pattern instead of a crochet pattern

Hi there

I'm new to crochet so that's my excuse!

It's this baby cardigan and hat set:

Is there any way I can change the pattern into a crochet pattern?

I've already bought the yarn so this was quite a costly mistake.

If it's garter stitch, then it's straightforward knitting apart from any shaping - could you give it a go knitting it, because although you may be able to work out the tension and therefore the number of (crochet) stitches you need, it would be really difficult and would look completely different as you can't replicate the garter stitch!

Thanks for replying!

I have tried knitting in the past but I've found it really awkward to hold both the needles. That being said, I'm so new to crochet that I haven't invested that much time into it so perhaps I should give knitting another go. This set is just so adorable that it might be worth it.

Really appreciate your reply, thank you.

This is a not dissimilar crochet pattern

If you're a member of Ravelry you may be able to find something on there to use the yarn.

It looks quite a simple knit - all in one piece I think, I'd give it a go, maybe try it in some cheap acrylic then you don't ruin the expensive Debbie bliss yarn if it goes wrong.
Crochet uses a lot more yarn than knitting, so even if you could translate the pattern you would probably need to buy a ball or two more.

Do an advanced search on Ravelry for the yarn weight and amount you bought. Filter to crochet only patterns and baby cardis & hats. And if you don't want to buy another pattern, filter free.
