Giant crochet granny square using two different thickness

Excuse my poor terminology.

Would a giant crocheted granny square blanket work using two different types of wool?
E.g. one is super chunky the other just chunky.

Have lots of lovely rainbow super chunky wool but don't like how bulky it is as a solid square, so was thinking of alternatingwith a regular chunky white wool

I do this with whatever wool I have chunky or not. Winter is often spent curled up on the sofa watching telly making a massive granny square that keeps me warm as I go. And helps me chill out. Dd (11) now does it too.

Try a sample square? I would though, if they were miles apart (DK and super chunky) then it might be more difficult but I'd think it should be fine

Do a sample square. If there’s a noticeable difference between the 2 types of yarn, maybe downsize your hook for the super? (Or upsize hook for chunky).
