Cricut help needed! Argh!

Hi folks I have a Cricut Explore Air 2.
I am trying to do make gift tags where I have a heart shape with some writing on it.
I have tried using the pen to write then cut, but the pen is too thick for the writing to be legible enough.
I have now tried changing it to print then cut. However the printed font has just come out as a thick block of black ink, rather than the nice cursive fine font that's on screen. Any suggestions? X

Hi Spanishfly, have you flattened the image and text before printing?
